And each type of swimwear has its own 'fans'. Of course, it may be going a bit far to associate a man's characteristics with a pair of swim shorts. But because I thought it was a funny and unusual article, I'll still go through them with you, perhaps adding some commentary.

• The swim brief. The most traditional swimwear of them all. It is said to represent a confident man who has nothing to hide. And of course, that is true. • The swim boxer. The boxer shorts among swimwear. Words associated with these close-fitting swim shorts: tough and trendy. They have now become fully established again after years of the loose-fitting style dominating the market. Hence the descriptions above. Of course, it says little about the person's character, but that's beside the point. Wearers are still often 25+, while younger men still tend to prefer the styles below.

• The swim shorts. Also known as the loose-fitting swim boxer. According to 'the experts', this man is someone who makes compromises. Someone who looks for solutions. Okay. Personally, I can't make much of this description, but there you go. Let me just say that swim shorts are suitable for all ages. 

• The surf shorts or board shorts. The longer version of swim shorts, often also without an inner lining. The wearer is said to be young and sporty and to choose the safe option. I can agree with that. Surf shorts do indeed have a young target audience, generally up to 25-30 years old. A disadvantage may be that your legs do not get as tan as possible, but surfers are willing to accept that.
