Small men's swim trunks

Are you looking for a "small swimshort" for men? It’s helpful to first determine exactly what you mean. The word small can actually mean three very different things: a short style (less fabric, more leg), a tight fit like a swim brief or swim boxer, or simply a small size (XS or S). Below we explain each difference and point you to the right model.

1. Short style: the short swimshort (short short)

Do you mean short — a swimshort that only reaches mid-thigh or shorter? Then you’re looking for a short swimshort, also called a short short. Not every swimshort has to hang past your knees.

Why men choose this:

  • You tan faster — the less fabric, the more sun on your legs.
  • Quick-drying and airy — usually made of light polyester, so comfortable on warm days and dries quickly after a dip.
  • Retro sporty look — short, sporty, and a bit nostalgic.
  • Plenty of color — from bright yellow and red to crisp white or orange.

A short style isn’t necessarily tight: you can also find loose and sporty fits. Popular with holidaymakers heading to Southern Europe. Check out the short swimshorts for men.

2. Tight fit: swim brief or swim boxer

If by "small" you mean tight and minimal coverage, then you’re looking at the fitted models:

  • Swim brief — small, tight, and light; ideal for serious swimmers and sunbathers. See the swim briefs.
  • Swim boxer — a bit more coverage than a brief, but still tight. A nice compromise. See the swim boxers.

You choose these if you prefer to feel your swimshort rather than see it, don’t want wet, baggy fabric clinging after swimming, or just like less hassle. If you prefer tight, always check the size carefully — too small is uncomfortable, too large will slip down.

3. Small size: XS or S

Or do you simply mean a small size? Not every man fits into an M or L, and luckily we have smaller sizes well in stock. For example, check out the swimshorts in size S.

Here’s how to determine your size:

  • Measure your waist where your pants normally sit.
  • Pull the tape measure snugly, but not so tight that you start to squeak.
  • Compare with the size chart — it’s accurate, so don’t guess.

Hans tip: unsure between two sizes? For a short/loose style, choose the size that fits a bit looser (you should still be able to move easily, especially after a night of tapas or pizza). For a tight fit, don’t choose too large, or it will slip down.

Summary: short, tight, or small size?

"Small swimshort" can mean many things. First decide what you’re looking for, then you’ll quickly find the right model:

The rest is a matter of taste. Enjoy choosing — and swimming.
